Edwin Queen Obituary
Edwin W. Queen, 91, of Windsor Point, formerly of Webster, NC, died March 22, 2010 after a long illness.
Eddie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He was born in Jackson County to Wesley C. and Bessie Tallent Queen and lived most of his life in Jackson County before moving five years ago to Fuquay-Varina.
He was preceded n death by Ollie, his wife of 71 years, and siblings, Robert Queen, Margaret Q. Hall, Claude Queen, and Charles Queen.
Mr Queen is survived by his son, William and wife, Lois of Titusville, FL; son, Larry and wife, Kathy of Holly Springs; daughter, Nancy and husband, Hal Mason of Garner; son, Richard and wife, Jane of Raleigh. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Allie Ensley fo Sylva and Betty Monteith and husband Hugh of Shelby; nine grandchildren, Lois "Lisa" Semmens of Holly Springs, Andrew Queen and wife, Dana of New York City, Michael Queen and wife, Jeanne of Atlanta, GA, Sara Queen and husband, Jason Slibeck of New York City, Tonya Mason of Charlotte, Mary Kathryn Queen of Cary, Anne Marie Miller and husband, Brian of Apex, Teri McIntosh and husband, Doug of Roanoke, VA, Keith "Casey" Queen and wife, Jennie of Phoenix, AZ; 14 great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Abby, Matthew, Henry, William, and Lawton Queen, Bennett and Emma Slibeck, Caitlin, Connor and Cordelia McIntosh, Joshua, Alex, and David Miller. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
Mr. Queen was an electrical contractor for many years and started his career as an employee of Dillsboro Power and Light, which was later purchased by Nantahala Power and light Company and eventually by Duke Power Company. He was office manager for Nantahala and Duke Power Companies in Robbinsville, Andrews, and Sylva. He was an avid golfer and ham radio operator (K4BAF).
A funeral service will be be held at First Baptist Church in Sylva, NC, of which he was a member, at 2:00 p.m. with interment in Locust Field Cemetery on Friday, March 26th. On Thursday, March 25th, the family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Melton Funeral Home in Sylva which is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial service will be held on April 18 at Windsor Point in Fuquay-Varina at 2:30 p.m.

The Queen family would like to express their appreciation to Windsor Point for the loving care Mr. Queen received during the five years he and Mrs. Queen lived there and to Wake Med, Cary, for the excellent care he received there.
