Emilio Gilarranz Obituary
Apex
Emilio Manuel Gilarranz, PE, age 53, a devoted Christian, doting father, and beloved husband, died in Apex, North Carolina on March 4, 2015.
Mr. Gilarranz, a native of Caracas, Venezuela, was one of four children. He is survived by his mother, Angeles Jimenez, his wife, Fatima Mañón Gilarranz, and three daughters, Elian Gilarranz McCool and her husband, Zachary McCool, both of Morrisville, Erica Gilarranz of Apex, and Emily Gilarranz of Apex.
Emilio was exceptionally proud to be an American citizen. Over the years, he worked his way through the complex immigration system, studied diligently and finally became a United States citizen on June 14, 2005. He sacrificed so his daughters could have a better life in this land of opportunity. Emilio truly lived the American Dream.
Some men are known for their accomplishments at work and Emilio's career at the NC Department of Transportation was exemplary. Starting as a Technician in 1995, he advanced over the years and was recently promoted to Engineer. Throughout his public service career, he improved his technical skills and was eventually licensed as a Professional Engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
But Emilio's many friends and neighbors knew him best for two endearing qualities; his passionate love for his dear wife and three daughters, and his ability to always see the best in people. Anyone who spent time with Emilio, felt his heart of love through his wit and caring words.
Emilio was a member of North Haven Church in Raleigh where he served as an usher and was active in home groups. Not only was he a loving husband and father, but he was truly a good and faithful servant of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The family will receive visitors Sunday, March 8, 2015 at North Haven Church, 6620 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The family receive visitors again at the church on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. immediately followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh.
In lieu of flowers, the Gilarranz family requests that memorial gifts might be made to either the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231, or to the Compassion Fund, c/o North Haven Church, 6620 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27615, to assist a family that Emilio cared about.

Emilio would light up the room wherever he was with his warmth, grace, love and humor.
