Emmy Lou Burns Wilkinson

Emmy Lou Burns Wilkinson of Raleigh was born in Morenci, Arizona on October 23, 1924 and died suddenly at home on October 29, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Wilkinson and her son, Dan Wilkinson. She is survived by two sons: Ray Wilkinson III of Raleigh, Joe and his wife Cheryl Wilkinson of Spring Hope, and daughter-in-law, Babs Wilkinson of Raleigh, and their families. Also three sisters and their husbands: Nancy and Allen Weiner of Sequim, Washington, Stalla and Paul Covill of Vero Beach, Florida, and Sally and Bill Cory of Cary; one brother, Jay Burns of Owensboro, Kentucky.
Emmy had a great love for her family and friends and believed in helping others. She was a housewife for many years before working in the Radiology Department at WakeMed Hospital where she retired. Emmy enjoyed the arts, loving on her grandchildren and shopping with her friends. Upon her request, her body was sent to Duke for research. A memorial gathering in her honor will be private. Contributions in her honor may be made to the Wake County SPCA or the Salvation Army.
