Eric Murray Obituary

Rev. Eric O. Murray, 93, died Saturday morning May 17, 2008, at his home.
Born December 13, 1914 in Durham, son of Albert L. Murray and Hattie Pleasants Murray. He married Josie Dunn Murray in 1933 who preceded him in death in 1995.
He is survived by his son, Eric Mark Murray of Raleigh and his wife, Myra Dean Murray; three grandchildren, Patty Lynn, Erica, and Eric Mark Murray, Jr. and wife, Kara Bradley Murray; and great- grandson, Gavin Bryce Murray; several nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Doris Garrett of Franklinton.
Reverend Murray was a member of the NC Conference of the United Methodist Church for over 35 years. Pastor at Pinview, Allensville-Trinity, Union Chapel, Hollands, Asbury- Dover, Faith, and Wellons Village United Methodist Churches. He graduated from Nyack College, Nyack NY with a Th. B. degree in 1951, and attended Duke University School of Divinity. He was a veteran of WWII in the U.S. Navy Seabees 81st Battalion in England and France, 1944.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday Evening at Clements Funeral Home, 1105 Broad St., Durham .
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. at Clements Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Harry officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Chapel United Methodist Church, 6501 Raleigh Rd Kittrell, NC.

Uncle Eric is greatly loved and will be sorely missed. Uncle Eric is a blessing to us all. My prayers are with Marc and family. God Bless you!

We are all so sad to lose a part of our hearts. Eric was such a wonderful person, and made each of us a little better for knowing him. He was so kind, and had a fabulous sense of humor. We shall miss him dearly. My sympathies to Mark, Myra and the family.
