Goldsboro, North Carolina - In profound sorrow, the Haskins Funeral Home and the Haskins Family announce the death of Rev. Ernie Haskins.
Rev. Ernie Haskins, 55, of Goldsboro peacefully succumbed to Lord's call Saturday evening in the Vidant Medical Center. He was the son of late Elsie L. Haskins and the late James T. Haskins. He was the Owner and Founder of Haskins Funeral Home & Cremations, Goldsboro. He was the proud and doting father of two daughters, Lauren Elizabeth and Lillian Elise Haskins.

With a greatly sadden heart, I write these words. Ernie was my friend and childhood classmate. Although we were a year a part in age, he made sure he knew all of his big brother Hal friends. He was always the gentleman with a kind heart. When I relocated I told him if I passed I only wanted him and his staff to attend to my affairs. I will truly miss you my friend. I pray the angels watch over your beautiful babies and that comfort has been given to your dear family.

My Family and I are deeply saddened of the passing of Mr.Haskins.. Mr. Haskins did our Father's Funeral Service. The day our Father passed, he spoke kind and encouraging words about our Father. During this time I am reflecting upon memories of hanging out with Ernie on the campus of NCCU and visiting him at his parents home in Wilson. I am glad we were able to stay in touch through the years and I had the opportunity to visit and tour the funeral home that he was so proud to show me.. My heart goes out to his daughters and family. I am truly heartbroken but also celebrating because I know he is in a better place.

Rev. Haskins was indeed a true professional and friend. He was always the same no matter the circumstances. We will cherish childhood memories and fun times spent with Ernie. As a child, Ernie created coffins by using match boxes and would cover old fashion wooden clothes pins with fabric to be used as morticians.
What a good and generous man Ernie was. He will be missed.
