Flora D'Angelo Obituary

Mrs. Flora D'Angelo passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2008 at the age of 93.
Although a New York resident for most of her life, Flora moved to an apartment at Woodland Terrace Assisted Living in 2004 to be close to her son and those whom she loved. When her health declined, she chose to move to Rex Skilled Nursing of Apex in 2007.
Throughout her life Flora was a loving and generous mother to her only son Charlie (although always Chuck to her); she was an especially strong and independent woman, who chose to continue to work and support herself well into her seventies. Flora is also most fondly remembered for her sharp sense of humor, as well as her keenly expressive face, which always revealed her every thought and emotion.
Flora is survived not only by her loving son, but by the many people who learned to truly love her. Andy, who has been like a second son for nearly 20 years, has always been generously caring and supportive. There are no words to express our love and gratitude to him. Many others have adopted Flora as "Mom", and have become her extended family, sharing their lives with her. Please know you enriched her life, and what you have done will never be forgotten. And for Alice and Grace, who in so many ways became Flora's "daughters", know that she loved you very much and appreciated all that you did so selflessly.
A mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Cary. Burial will follow at Wake Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd., Cary, NC.
On her behalf, her son would like to express his gratitude to Woodland Terrace staff for their contribution in helping her adjust and truly learn to enjoy her new life in Cary. Sincere and heartfelt thanks are sent to everyone at Rex of Apex not only for their excellent care, but for their compassion and empathy during some very difficult times. Hospice of Wake County has played an integral part in helping Flora pass through the final stages of her life. Please know each of you has been truly appreciated by her and her son.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Flora's memory to a charity of choice.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownwynne.com
