Frances Montagna Peatross, 96, died on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Sunrise of North Hills in Raleigh, NC. Frances was born August 6, 1916 to Marcellino and Donata Anzellotti Montagna of Cecil, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Cecil Township High School in 1934, then attended Washington Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated in 1937.
During World War II, Frances served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Force Nurse Corp. She was stationed in Miami Beach, Florida treating and caring for wounded soldiers returning from the battlefields of Europe. After the war, Frances continuing her nursing career at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C.
On July 30, 1949 she married the late Robert Marion Peatross of Raleigh, North Carolina. They made Raleigh their home during their 45 years of marriage. Frances enjoyed her career in nursing and after her marriage, continued as a volunteer at Rex Hospital until she was 82 years old.
She is survived by her children, Michael Ford Peatross and wife Julie of Raleigh, Robert Mark Peatross and wife Angie of Raleigh, and Lisa Peatross Evans and husband Rick of Limburgerhof Germany. In addition, she had three grandchildren, Marion Starke Schell, Taylor Nicole Peatross and James Robert Peatross.
Funeral Services will be held at White Memorial Presbyterian Church in the Davidson Chapel on Sunday July 14th at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends immediately afterwards at the church, and then proceed to Montlawn Memorial Park for interment.
