Frank Bonavita Obituary

Frank Joseph Bonavita, Jr., 59, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025 at his mountain home, his favorite place.

Frank was born in Kingston, New York, on July 3rd, 1966. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School where he met lifelong friends and was part of the basketball, baseball and soccer teams. Frank's younger years were filled with Cub & Webelos Boy Scouts, hanging with neighborhood friends, swim team at Quail Hollow pool, CASL soccer and family trips with the cousins at Emerald Isle. His teenage summers were spent working at Andy's Pizza and School Kids' Records.

He attended Cardinal Gibbons High School where he played soccer and was the captain of the team his junior and senior year. He was the drummer in a band, he was student body president, and he excelled at art. Frank graduated from North Carolina State University with Bachelors of Arts degrees in Business Management and Economics and a minor in Finance.

For a short time, right out of college, Frank returned to Cardinal Gibbons and became the Girls Soccer Coach and taught religion. He was a very popular teacher and revered coach. He later began his career in the Foodservice and equipment industry in 1994 at Libbey Glass and then moved on to the Vollrath Company. He established Carolina Foodservice Solutions in 2008, a prominent sales and marketing company servicing North and South Carolina. Within two years CFS was exceeding sales goals and becoming a national leader in the Foodservice Rep Industry. Numerous Rep of the Year awards and Sales milestones have become the norm for CFS.

Frank was a jack of all trades: a conversationalist, a handyman, an artist, a musician, a soccer player, a pizza maker, an avid reader, a record collector, an outdoorsman, a trendsetter. He had an eye for design and could make anybody laugh.

He was a dedicated friend who would do anything for you. He paid attention and would let you know he was thinking about you with small gestures, including checking in to make sure you were ok. He greatly loved "his people" and with his uncanny memory would remember phone numbers and birthdays from friends dating back to elementary school.

Frank will be remembered for his love, his good humor, his many skills, and his generosity of time and talent. Not one to want recognition, he quietly performed a great number of acts of service and support for charities.

Frank is preceded in death by his father, Frank Bonavita Sr. He is survived by his beloved wife Dallas and his children, Madison and Joey. He leaves behind his mother, Virginia, and his siblings, Paul (Heather), Theresa (Matt), Mike (Regan), Tom (Kay), and Matt (Elizabeth). Frank will also be dearly missed by several nieces, nephews and the rest of his extended family.

A celebration of life service will be held for all who loved him on Friday, October 31, 2025, 2:30-5:30 p.m., at The Historic Wakefield Barn, 12617 Old Falls of Neuse Rd, Wake Forest, NC. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

To Dallas and Family,
I was absolutely heartbroken to hear the news about Frank. I’m still trying to process that such a huge light has gone out in the world. He was, without a doubt, one of the most remarkable people I have ever known. I will forever cherish the memories of his great, funny spirit—the way he could tell a story or joke that lifted the mood in any room.He had huge heart. He was so genuinely caring; he was the person you could always count on to check in and truly listen. And yet, he remained profoundly humble, never seeking the spotlight, always happier to celebrate the successes of others before his own.He made a real impact on my life. I miss him dearly already. Please know that I am thinking of you all you.
With deepest sympathy,
Danielle Forzese

To the Bonavita Family,
My sincerest condolences to such a wonderful man and lovely family. I was fortunate to teach one of Frank's younger brothers at Millbrook Elementary(late 1980's) and got to know the family. Wishing you heartfelt sympathy for such an awesome person. It was such pleasure to work with such a kind and caring family.

I taught at CHHS from 1982 to 1994. My sincere sympathy to Frank´s family & his classmates. I certainly remember him-bright, friendly, and a natural leader. Reading of his life´s work and many interests is inspiring, all the more so because of the qualities he lived by-devotion to family, respect for others, and faithful service in using his gifts & abilities. I thank God for Frank´s joy and for his goodness. Amid the tears, may our remembrance of Frank be a light and guide to all who were blessed to know him...so that a spark of his spirit will shine in our hearts. That is my prayer today.

I'm so sad for the loss of this dear friend. My heart goes out to all of Frank's family who I've know since he entered Cardinal Gibbons as a freshman. Having him return to Gibbons after college as a colleague was such a blessing and his daily visits to my office were filled with laughter. His story here is beautiful and he will not be forgotten for the amazing person he was.
My prayers are with Dallas, Madison, Joey, Ginny, and all of Frank's family.

Frank and I were friends in high school where we played soccer and worked at Andy's Pizza together. I ran into him a few years ago and found out he loved to fly fish. We talked about a trip but it never happened and that makes me sad. He was awesome.

I have known and worked with Frank for 25 years! He was always a joy to work with! When you talked with him, you knew that he cared deeply for his customers, family and friends. He always strived to ensure he was doing the "right" thing! He loved him wife and children deeply and his pride in having the honor to be a husband and father came out in conversation and expression! I will keep his family and friends in my prayers!
