Our precious Daddy and PaPa joined his beloved "Miss Bobbie" Wednesday morning "just inside The Eastern Gate." He was the only child of the late Ruby Hayes Cross Massey and George Rigsby Massey, Sr.
Daddy was a native of Zebulon and retired from banking after over 34 years of serving his valued customers. After retirement he became very involved in funeral operations in the family business.
Surviving are his children George Rigsby (Rigy) Massey III and Prenby Massey Meyers and husband David and his granddaughter Lauren Paige Massey (Melissa).
Funeral services will be held at Zebulon Baptist Church on Sunday August 20th at 3 pm. Entombment service will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens with NC National Guard Honors.
Our family will receive friends at the church prior to the service on Sunday beginning at 1 PM.
We would like to suggest for those who wish, contributions may be made to the Zebulon Baptist Church Faith Challenge, PO Box 366 Zebulon, NC 27597.

He was a good and compassionate banker. He collected caps, but I think he was a much more complex gentleman than most know as he collected, much as I do, people. Mr. George Massey knew that the value of people is far greater than money. He "banked" the true ones and "loaned out" the others. He never, ever treated me as a "move here" though miist of his contemporaries did so. For that I'm totally appreciative.
For Rigy, Prenby and other family members the sting of Mr. George's passing will ease into warm, fond memories with the help of God, family and friends, and time. And it is for this comfort that Linda and I pray.
