Grace Abbott Obituary

Grace P. Abbott, 85, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2002, at Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center, following a short illness. She was born on March 1, 1916, in Franklin County, North Carolina, the daughter of Malle S. and Annie (Clifton) Perry. Grace married James C. Glasgow in 1939, he preceded her in death. She lived most of her early life in and around the Raleigh, North Carolina area, and was retired from North Carolina start government. Grace married Dr. William L. Abbott on April 12, 1963 in Raleigh, North Carolina and together they moved to Madison, WI in September 1967.
She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Katherine (Jasper) Jones of Salisbury, N.C., Dorothy Sallinger of Raleigh, N.C., Linda Dupree of Raleigh, N.C.; two brothers, James Vernon Perry, Linwood A. Perry, both of Raleigh, N.C.; two sisters,Margaret Robbins of Youngsville, N.C., MaryGrey (Tommy) Goswick of Louisburg, N.C.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Gunderson East Funeral Home, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, WI, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2002. Private interment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Raleigh, N.C., date andtime to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center, 5395 E.Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711.
