Harold Hodgin Reddick
Youngsville
Harold (Rick) Hodgin Reddick passed away peacefully on May 11, 2011 at home after an extended illness.
He was born on October 1,1923 in Greensboro, NC to the late Haul Millis Reddick Sr. and Hallie Hodgin Reddick.
After attending Oak Ridge Military Institute, he went on to graduate from Greensboro High School in Greensboro, NC. In 1948, Harold received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Wake Forest College. While at Wake Forest College, he met Mattie Clay Green of Youngsville, NC. On November 29th, 2010, they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
Harold was owner of Reddick Equipment Company, Inc. in Williamston, NC until his retirement in 1984. At that time, he enjoyed being actively involved in his farming operation in Franklin County. He was an avid hunter and ardent supporter of wildlife and land conservation. He was bestowed an annual award by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission for his efforts in wildlife preservation on his farm. He was a member of the Youngsville Masonic Lodge for 50 years. He served on the Board of the Franklin Regional Hospital in Louisburg, NC and for 12 years served as a Youngsville Town Commissioner. As a Town Commissioner, he chaired the Architectural Committee for the Youngsville Library. Later, he was also instrumental in helping the Youngsville Woman's Club acquire and maintain the Youngsville Christian Church as an historic museum.
Harold was a long-time member of the Youngsville Christian Church where he served as Trustee, Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher. After the Christian Church closed in 1998, he transferred his membership to the Youngsville Baptist Church.
Harold is survived by his wife, Mattie Clay Green; and their son, Harold (Rick) H. Reddick, Jr. and wife, Kelly Reddick of Raleigh, NC. Also surviving are his nephews, Haul Reddick III and wife, Mary of Kingman, Arizona, Bruce Reddick and wife, Bethylee of Williamston, NC, Charles Reddick and wife, Sue of Franklinton, NC; niece, Cathryn Reddick of Williamston, NC; and many great nieces and nephews. His brother, Haul M. Reddick Jr. preceded him in death.
A celebration of Harold's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Youngsville Baptist Church, 315 East Main Street, Youngsville, NC by the Rev. Charles D. Stratton Jr., Pastor. Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends in the Church Fellowship Hall where lunch will be served. Later a private interment will be held at Youngsville Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Todd Helton, Clara Hawkins, Arlene Estes, Alice Eaton, Drenda Tabron, and Heartland Hospice Care for their kindness, support, and outstanding care.

Mrs. Reddick, Rick and family, my condolences in your loss. Harold was a wonderful person and friend always showing concern for others. I will not be able to attend the service today but I will continue to pray for you and the family.

Mrs. Reddick, I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Reddick. He was always a special customer and friend and always asked about my son and my horses. I'll miss him and I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.
