Harold Watkins Obituary
July 3, 1944 - March 21, 2022
Wilmington, North Carolina - Harold Scott Watkins passed away on March 21,2022 in Wilmington, N.C. His spirit, warmth and optimism belied the long, hard battle he fought with prostate and bone cancer. Though his fight is now over, he never gave up.
Scott was born in Henderson,N.C. on July 3,1944. He was predeceased by his parents, Scottie Ayscue Watkins and Harold Upchurch Watkins.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Judith Ervin Watkins and his daughters; Jennifer L. Watkins of Raleigh and Heather L. Watkins of San Francisco, California. He is also survived by two grandchildren; Ashley(Greg) Moore of Garner and Cary Oatway of Cary and one great-grandchild; Daniel Moore of Garner.
Also surviving are his siblings;Dan(Sandra)Watkins of Fuquay; Hal Watkins of Raleigh;Rose Watkins(Gene)Wolf of Durham; Hartwell(Kristin)Watkins of Raleigh and his sister-in-law; Sue Ervin Raynor of Richmond, Va. and many nieces and nephews.
Scott attended Louisburg College and Duke University. Scott was involved in the building and construction business. Later he worked for many years as an architectural sales representative for several brick companies.
Thanks to the staff of the Lower Cape Fear Care for their compassion and to the staff of the Zimmer Cancer Center for the many years of care for Scott and support for Judy.
The service will be held at Wrightsville United Methodist Church at Wrightsville Beach,N.C. On April 12,2022 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers,the family suggests donations to Wrightsville United Methodist Church, 4 Live Oak Dr., Wrightsville Beach, N.C. 28480.
