Helen and I worked hard to help Dr. Bruce Howell reach one of the expectations of the Board of trustees who employed him in1980, that of an expanded Evening Program. When I was hired to serve as Dean of that program in February, 1982, Helen was the Public Relations Officer and one of the first people I visited to discuss ways to increase enrollment. That first Fall Semester, the enrollment increased from 200 students to 1,000 and the Spring increased to 1,400. By the time I transferred to the System Office in 1987, the enrollment in the evening had increased to 2800 and equalled that of the day enrollment, a whopping 750% increase. This would never have happened with out the skills and contacts of Hellen Eller. She really knew how to maneuver, and we were all very delighted.
