Helen Elaine Gaddy, 80, passed away peacefully at her home in Raleigh, North Carolina on June 7, 2018, surrounded by her family.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11am on Saturday, June 16th, at Bright Funeral Home in Wake Forest.
Elaine was born on October 5th, 1937, in Union County to Robert Gaddy and Ruth Turner Gaddy. She graduated from Duke University, and worked as a nurse at Boylan Internal Medicine. Elaine was cherished by her neighbors and friends, and known for her passion for dogs and her family.
Elaine is survived by her brother, Dr. Robert E. Gaddy Jr, and sister, Lillian Durham; children, Kimberly Jeffries and Buddy Mitchell, of Vernon Mitchell (deceased); her three grandchildren, Anna, Thomas, and Robert Jeffries; and her beloved niece, Carol Durham Ferrell and nephew, Jimmy Durham. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Greer, and her dear friend David Biddy.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Humane Society in Elaine's honor would be cherished.

Please accept our most heartfelt sympathy for your loss. My daughter Leah and her family lived next door to Elaine and they loved her like family. We got to know Elaine from our many visits to Raleigh. Elaine is a person you will never forget and you are blessed if she entered your life. She was a kind, caring human being and so spunky!
