Homer Powell Obituary
April 5, 1928 – December 12, 2016
Raleigh
Homer Lee Powell died Monday at his home in the Swift Creek community. A native of Fuquay-Varina, he was a professional truck driver for over forty years and VP of Triangle Express for more than 25 years. He was a deacon at Athens Drive Baptist Church.
Surviving: his wife of 67 years, Barbara Christmas Powell; son, Ron Powell and wife, Cathy; daughter, Sharon McLaurin and husband, Rev. David; grandchildren, Shannon Powell (Melissa), Bethany Walker (Bert), Landon Powell (Allyson), Rebekah Moore ( James), Liz Wilson (Ernie), Hannah Melton (Robbie); 10 great-grandchildren and brother, Shirlowe Powell.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 11 brothers and sisters and a great-granddaughter, Izzy Powell.
Visitation Thursday 10:00-11:30 AM at Athens Drive Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 12:00. Burial, Montlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ADBC Building Fund, 1601 Athens Drive, Raleigh, NC 27606.
