James Morrison Obituary

James "Reid" Morrison, Jr., 78, of Chapel Hill, NC, passed away on September 28, 2025. A '71 UNC-Chapel Hill graduate, he dedicated 35 years to the American Heart Association, leading the Hawaii affiliate to top national rankings in charitable giving and advancing heart disease research and outreach. His work was recognized for supporting research on women and heart disease, education and outreach to under-served communities, and placement of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in public spaces and high-risk venues in Hawaii. A passionate Rotarian, traveler, and Tar Heels fan, Reid is survived by his son James Reid Morrison, III, and his wife Gay Lynn, granddaughter Caroline, sisters Susan and Lynn, partner Catherine Alexander, and many loved ones. The family requests donations to the American Heart Association in memory of Reid Morrison at www.heart.org.
