James Proctor Obituary
October 22, 1958 - November 27, 2023
Whitakers, North Carolina - James Crowell Proctor, age 65, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023. Born in Nash County, NC on October 22,1958, he was the son of the late Joseph Bennette Proctor and Rose Weaver Proctor. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Leo Edward Karner.
James was a member of The Son of the Confederacy Veterans. He was also very active in the Republican Party; James ran for State Legislature in 2022. In his free time James enjoyed playing pickle ball, traveling, and collecting antiques and furniture, specifically silver. He liked to attend the Preakness Horse Race in Baltimore. James will be deeply missed. He made a difference in the life of everyone who knew him, and he leaves behind a tremendous legacy of life, love, and laughter.
James is survived by his sisters, Mary Joe Karner; Elizabeth Anne Proctor; nephews Kevin Joseph Karner and wife Sarah; Kyle Christoper Karner; special friends and other family members.
A Funeral Service to celebrate James's life will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Carlton Cockell officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service in the Parlor of Johnson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Historic Preservation Society of Edgecombe County P.O. Box 1259 Tarboro, NC 27886.
