Jean Carbone Obituary

Jean Carbone
December 20, 2020
Raleigh, North Carolina - Jean Carbone... our mother, mentor, Mimi and great-grandmother has left us to join her precious John. He predeceased her twelve years ago and she has missed him every day since.
Jean was so very proud of her family, her Sicilian heritage, and she LOVED the state of North Carolina! She moved here at the age of 12, yet she always claimed to be a native. She attended WC (UNC Greensboro). She met John while he was serving in the Army here in North Carolina. They married in 1948, raised five children, Ann Christine (Jim) Marco, John (Tammy) Carbone, Maria (Michael) House and Gianine Carbone. Precious Michele predeceased both her parents.
Jean and John opened the Villa Capri on Hillsborough St in 1958. They were consummate hosts as they welcomed you to dine with them. In 1984, they partnered with their children to open the Casa Carbone where Jean loved to tell the evening specials and visit with customers... often sitting down and enjoying a glass of wine or two.
Jean's faith was central to her being...she loved attending Mass, going to Adoration, and being a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes altar guild.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Divine Mercy Radio or Transitions Hospice. She will truly be missed!!

Just found out and wanted to add my condolences. I have such fond memories of dining at Villa Capri with my family and try to visit Casa Carbone whenever I´m in town. John and Jean were such kind caring people and I will never forget them.

So sorry for your family’s loss...our thoughts especially with John, our Gibbons classmate. I have very fond memories of Jean and all the Carbones from my “Field” family dinners and celebrations at Villa Capri and Casa Carbone, always made to feel welcome by Jean and her warm smile. Peace and love to all...LuAnn (Field) and Bill Richardson

I recall Jean from my high school days and remember her so fondly. She and my parents were friends. She was always smiling and warm and I would feel better each time I saw her. And what a wonderful family she raised. I know how sorely she will be missed and wish the family comfort at this difficult time.

She was a special lady. I have fond memories of dining at Casa Carbone, and Jean would take my son, Chad Kerner, up front with her so that we could enjoy our dinner. My family has had many wonderful meals at their restaurants, starting at Villa Capri in 1964 and still enjoy the wonderful food today at Casa Carbone. I know that she is in her happy place with her precious John today. To the family, you are all in our thoughts and prayers, but know that she is in a much better place that we are. God Bless.

What a wonderful lady that I have fondest memories of growing up! She and your Dad always made my family feel like a part of her family when eating at Villa Capri. God bless your family

Maria and Mike and family my deepest sympathy. Your mom was always so kind and always treated me like a dear friend making me feel special in her presence. I always enjoyed seeing her at the restaurant and speaking with her.
