John Ammons Obituary

John G. "Jack" Ammons, 69, of Red Springs, died Monday, July 4, 2005 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Red Springs with the Rev. Dr. Ray Ammons and Rev. Dr. Michael Cogdill officiating. Burial will follow in Alloway Cemetery.
Jack retired from North Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation office in Lumberton. He was a charter member of the Red Springs RescueSquad, a member of the Red Springs First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher, a veteran with the U.S. Navy, and a licensed Funeral Director with Boles Funeral Home of Red Springs.
Survived by his wife, Linda Phillips Ammons; a son, John G. Ammons, II of Red Springs; and a daughter, Martha Harmening of Huntersville; two brothers, G.T. "Tommy" Ammons of Red Springs and Rev. Dr. Clarence B. Ammons of Denver, CO; three grandchildren, Trevor, Justin and Phillip.
Memorials may be made to the Ammons Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 166, Red Springs, NC 28377; or the Red Springs Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 384, red Springs, NC 28377.
The family will receive friends at BolesFuneral Home from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday.
