John Dunnagan Obituary

Durham, North Carolina - John "John Boy" Lewis Dunnagan, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at his home in Durham surrounded by family. He was born in Durham, the son of the late James Felton Dunnagan and Ruth Thompson Dunnagan. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dunnagan is also predeceased by his wife, Linda Moore Dunnagan.
Mr. Dunnagan was a lifelong employee and retiree of Duke Power Company. He loved people, being surrounded by family and friends. Mr. Dunnagan loved the outdoors, especially motorcycles, sport shooting, fishing and being close to the water.
Mr. Dunnagan is survived by his son, James Edwin Dunnagan (Adrienne Pate Dunnagan); grandchildren, Linda Michelle Vestal (Justin), Kristen Dunnagan Cannada (Stevie); great-grandchildren, MaKenzie Benson Vestal, Gavin Wright, Mason Crabtree; brother, James Norman Dunnagan.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 12th at Woodlawn Memorial Park with Dr. Norman Gordon officiating.
Flowers are accepted or contributions are preferred to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital: 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
