Punta Gorda, Florida - John P. Hartley, 65, of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away on March 7, 2022. He was born on September 9, 1956, to John and Hertha Hartley in Chicago, IL. John relocated to Punta Gorda in May of 2021 from Cary, NC. He was the Owner/Operator and General Contractor of Dream Pools Design & Build, as well as Aqua Creations, until his retirement in May of 2021.
John enjoyed saltwater fishing off the coast on his boat while spending quality time with his family. He loved being a people person and was often the life of the party. John was truly a great friend. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
John will be deeply missed by his best friend and loving wife of 48 years, Kathleen (Hudson) Hartley; children Jacob Hartley, Laurie (Hartley) King, and Johnny Hartley; brothers Cary Hartley and Drew Hartley; sisters Yvonne Ervin and Yvette Heywood; and grandson Gavin Perkins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Macedonia Baptist Church, 7100 Holly Springs Road, Raleigh, NC, 27606. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to Wounded Warriors. Arrangements are by Johnson-Taylor Funeral & Cremation, www.JohnsonTaylorFuneral.com

I met John at the Backstage in 2018. He was one of my favorite people. I loved talking with him about pools, family, religion, politics, food...all of it. I am lucky to have been friends with John.

I am so sorry to hear about John. We just spoke with him a few weeks ago. John was always such a funny guy to be around, and the man loved a good burger! He will be missed. Sending love and prayers to the entire family.
