John Hoar Obituary
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter in Sumter.
The family will receive friends at the home from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday and following the memorial service in the Parish Life Center of the church.
Memorials may be made to Santee-Wateree Mental Health Center, 215 N. Magnolia Street, Sumter, SC 29150.
Online condolences may be sent to www.sumterfunerals.com.
Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory, 221 Broad Street, Sumter is in charge of arrangements.

I am related to John, my great uncle and spouse of Nancy, via my grandfather, his brother, Edwin Barker Hoar, who changed his name to Whitney wen he moved to St. Louis in 1893 (taking his mother Lydia's maiden name). I've only recently become aware of his death.
