John Krombach Obituary

John Joseph Krombach of Apex, NC was born on September 16, 1958, in Buffalo, New York, and died May 23, 2025, in Greenville, NC.

John spent his early life in West Seneca, New York, and attended Alfred State College to pursue his career in Auto Body. He moved to Pittsboro, NC in 1977 where he started his business, Pittsboro Body Shop, and ran it for four decades.

John's passion for cars extended beyond the auto body world as he raced cars on a dirt track in New York and had a 1969 Camaro he would occasionally freshen up and take to car shows.

After several decades of owning and running his own business, he retired and moved to Henrico, NC on Lake Gaston.

John was an avid sports fan playing football and wrestling in high school and was a longtime season ticket member of the Carolina Hurricanes and was in the building to watch them win the Stanley Cup in 2006. He also enjoyed staying active by doing yard work, running, playing men's league rec inline hockey, and skiing.

John was also a fan of classic rock and, when he was younger, played drums in a band covering the classic songs he loved. You could often hear him intentionally singing the wrong words of a song just to be goofy or give his patented "finger point" dance when the mood struck.

He is preceded in death by his Father William, Mother Alice, and Brother Donald. He is survived by his son, Matthew; siblings, William (Kathy), Thomas(Sue), Robert (Patricia), the Widow of Donald, Karen, Mary Smith (Gary), Anne Stack (Stephen), and Patrick (Renee); companion Ann Keehan.

His memorial service will be held on July 26, 2025 at Hunt Springs Baptist Church at 11 a.m.

We had so much fun together when I would cut his hair. I always remember if I said a word wrong he would correct me. He was a sweet person and a great landlord. I am so heartbroken to hear of his passing. Thinking of Matthew , family and his sweet girlfriend at this time .

I was so sorry to hear about John's passing. John and I were friends for many years, along with many other members of his family. I will be forever grateful for the many memories we made together. I still have some of the old Pittsboro Body Shop tee shirts he gave me and will think of John each time I wear them. May you rest in peace my friend.

R.I.P. my friend. We shared a lot of memories together, from meeting on the beach in Florida and continuing our adventures for many years. Sad to know you are gone but the memories will always be there, lots of memories. Prayers to Mathew and the rest of your family and loved ones. Bones
