Raleigh, North Carolina - John Frederick Teague McGlaughlin passed away on May 29, 2025, after suffering a heart attack on May 20. He was born on April 23, 1958, to Eleanor and James McGlaughlin and grew up in Short Hills, NJ.
John earned his electrical engineering degree from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, dedicating his career to advancements in technology and innovation. Throughout his professional journey, he contributed his expertise to LabVolt, Picatinny Arsenal, Cisco, CGI, AT&T, and Michelin, leaving a lasting impression on those who worked with him.
He was a devoted family man, deeply cherished by his wife, Terrie; his brother, Jim; his children, David, Sean, and Kerry; and his beloved grandchildren, David, Jacob, Zachary, Kaycee, and Skyla. John was also preceded in death by his brother Robin. He was the beloved Uncle of his nieces Kathy, Jamie, Brooke, Jennifer, Laura, and Katherine, and his nephews Joshua, Jason, Michael, Sean, Timothy, Jeffrey, Kristopher, and Andrew.
John had a deep and abiding faith in God, which shaped his life and actions. His passions included skiing, fishing, boating, science, technology, and, most importantly, helping others. He lived with a generous spirit and an insatiable curiosity for the world around him and never had a short answer for anything.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on June 28 at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Raleigh, NC. The service may be live-streamed at https://www.pgumc.org.
John's questioning, kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be deeply missed. His legacy of faith, generosity, and intellect lives on in all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
