Mr. Mittman resided at 421 Nelson Hill Road off Linville Road in Mount Airy. He was the husband of the late Annie Mae Mittman. Mr. Mittman was born March 18, 1931, in Surry County, to the late Clint and Mollie Vaughn Mittman. As a public servant, Mr. Mittman served on the Mount Airy Rescue Squad, the Mount Airy City Planning Board, and a trustee of Mallalieu Jones United Methodist Church. Mr. Mittman was an avid traveler and was well known for his love of old-fashioned cars. Mr. Mittman enjoyed finding classic automobiles, fixing them up, and showcasing them outside of his body shop.

To the most wonderful grandfather of all:

Papa,
Words will never say how much you meant to me. You were a strong driving force in my upbringing, you were an inspiration and a great role model. I look back on all the summers I spent with you at the Shop, just me and you riding around in the truck, and I realize that we had a strong bond. I'll cherish the memories and the times we had for forever and a day! I know you are looking down on us right now, but know that you are greatly missed and this void can never be filled. Give Nana, Aunt Lucille, Grandma Mollie and all the rest of the family, hugs and kisses for us, as ya'll look down from Heaven.
Thanks for all that you did Papa; I'll miss the bowls of rice for breakfast and the $5 for a pack of nabs, slim jim, and soda pop at the Neighbors Store. Man, who could forget your meatloaf cuisine!
I'll miss your laugh, your stories, your voice (even when you were fussing), and most of all just your presence. You are the man Pop and I'm glad to be your only grandson!
I Love You will all my heart!
Go now and REST IN PEACE!

Amy and Al,
John did some repair work for me back in 1962. I told Al I would visit, so after I retired I went by the shop and visited for quite a while. It was a good visit and I treasure the time I spent with your dad.
