Kinston
John "J.C."Curtis Reynolds, Sr., 84, of Kinston, passed away February 21, 2018, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born November 5, 1933 to the late John Everette and Catherine Reynolds in Onslow County, NC. JC was a lover of people and believer in God. After serving in the Army, he became a lifelong resident of Kinston. For over 50 years, JC was the owner of Reynolds Seafood, with his son Johnny Reynolds and his nephew Chuck Reynolds. A lifelong lover of sports, he was affectionately known as "Pappy". JC officiated high school basketball for over 20 years and participated in area sports leagues for many years as a player, coach and sponsor. In addition to his parents, JC was preceded in death by brother Lewis and sister Vickie.
He leaves to cherish his memory, brother Marvin Reynolds; sister-in-love Arlene Ferren; his children with Edna Reynolds, John "Johnny" Reynolds, Jr, Sandy Reynolds-Jones (Woody) and Chad Reynolds (Laura); step-sons with Betty Reynolds, Mike Surcy (Leigh) and Steve Surcy (Sabrina); grandchildren Adam Jones, Sara Reynolds, Dean Johnson, Molly Reynolds, Catherine Reynolds and Lydia Reynolds; great-granddaughter Savannah Jones. In addition, he is survived by a close knit band of friends, a fraternity of referee brothers and family.
Visitation with family and friends will be held at Garner Funeral Home in Kinston from 6:30-8:30 pm on Saturday, February 24th. A memorial service will be held at 902 Church, 2009 Carey Rd, Kinston at 2 pm on Sunday, February 25th. A celebration of life will be held Monday, February 26th from 4-6 pm at Reynolds Seafood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to 902 Church 2009 Carey Rd. Kinston, NC 28501.
