Some of our friends wanted to know why I called Jonathan, Pumpkin . I gave it to him. I also called him sugar muffin and his favorite stud muffin. Jonathan would pull the freight out of back room of Kmart into departments so we could put freight up. I would draw pumpkins on the boxes so Jonathan would know I was thinking of him. When he moved to Home Depot I would leave notes , pictures of pumpkins , flowers, and balloons on his truck at work. Even after we married I would leave suprises on his truck to let him know I was thinking of him. Pumpkin did not leave me suprises like I did . I only have may be 6 cards or notes from Pumpkin. He showed his in a different way.

Some of our friends wanted to know how we met. This is our Story. In 1998 I was really upset , I thought I would never meet my shining knight in armor. On my birthday that year I prayed that God would help me find someone or help me to live by myself. So my birthday wish was to find a husband. I worked 2pm to 10 pm at food lion and 11pm to 7am at Kmart. A couple days later I was working over at Kmart when I saw Jonathan delivering the money to Kmart from Lomis Fargo. When I saw him I was attracted to him but said to myself that to forget it I would never see him again. Before I knew it Jonathan became my boss on night crew at Kmart. We did not date much because I was so busy working. We would go to breakfast after work or sit in car and talk. What attracted me most to him was how he made me laugh.

Pumpkin was 21 days old when 1st moon landing happwhile I was 6 years old.

Pumpkin would have been 50 this year.

Patty and John,

My name is James Scarboro. I was friends with Jonathan back in high school. We were also in Boy Scouts together and we played football at Enloe. Although I dont think I ever told him, for a while, I considered Johnathan my best friend. Jonathan was a year or so older than I was so when he graduated we lost touch.

I just learned today about his passing. Although I havent seen or talked to Jonathan in nearly 30 years, I felt like I had just lost a member of my family. I cant tell you how sorry I am for your loss.

As I looked through all the pictures of Jonathan and his life after high school I was happy to see that he had a great life. He obviously loved you both, his job and was happy.

In high school, Jonathan was funny, lively, kind and very caring of others. People called him Moose. Not to mock or pick on him, but more out of respect, for his size and strength, but mainly for his gentile nature. To him, I was Jim or Jim-John. A nick name I never really liked, given to me by a mean-spirited coach who said I was too big to have just one name... When Jonathan called me by my nick name, I never took offense, because I knew it came from a friend and someone to always had my back.

Ill never forget your husband and father. He was a great friend.

God bless you both.

I had the pleasure of working with Jonathan at the Home Depot. He had the habit of making my day a happier and better one by doing nothing more than being himself. He was a good friend and I enjoyed working with him and I would go out of my way just for the chance to work with him. He was a very dedicated worker and family man. We would share stories about our families and our boys, food, wrestling, and any other subject under the sun. Even now, I think of him with his coffee cup full of high octane coffee and smile, which he would have wanted. I will miss you Jonathan and I know you are bringing happiness wherever you may be right now. God bless you brother and rest in peace my friend.

I have worked with Jonathan at our Home Depot during his career. He always went to great lengths to make sure all his customers received the best service. He shared his knowledge from working in many departments at our store.

Jonathan always looked forward to planning his vacations so he could participate in the Boy Scout Troop outings with his son. Upon his return, he shared his good times with us.

My heart goes out to Patty , John, Betty Sue, Jody, Jill and Lauren . I know you are missing Jonathan.

I remember his twinkling eyes and big laughs as he and Uncle Graham would joke about being "McGee Men"! Jonathan and Jody are beloved of Graham and I came to love them too.. I hope Jonathan and Graham are enjoying a wonderful reunion with Billy right now --as we will one day.

I first met Jon last summer at Boy Scout camp, and he made a great impression on me. He was an enthusiastic member of the troop, always cheerful and eager to help out in any way that he could. He was a proud and devoted husband and father who spoke in glowing terms of his family. His priorities were clearly in order. Rest in peace my friend.

Jonathan was fondly known as Moose at Enloe HS here in Raleigh. I was so happy to have him as a friend through our Carnage and Enloe years together. He was on the JV football team at Enloe and also competed with the track team. He really enjoyed working with the AV group as well. Everyone who knew Jonathan had nothing but great things to say about him; friendly, funny, polite, athletic, etc. He is one of those guys who classmates will remember as soon as you say "Moose" because he was the one and only and we all loved him. It is always sad to loose someone.....we can say that another Eagle has soared.

I will miss the calls of " Whoooo...." as you walk throught the isles at work. your deep baritone belly laugh when something was " truely"funny. Your willingness to help every and anyone, but the love and pride you displayed when talking about your son was the most enjoyable, enduring thing I will cherish the most. it spoke volumes of your unselfish character, and that is why we are a sadden community by the news of your passing.

While my time working with Jonathan was only 4+ years he will have a lasting expression on me. I marveled at the many times he spoke about his son who he referred to as Junior. His life was about taking care of him and his family. You will be missed and your memory will not be forgotten by those who you made an impression on.

I have worked with Jonathan for the past 16 years at Home Depot. He was Always willing to help me in any way and with a smile on his face. He was always taking care of the pallets. If there was any dirt underneath when a pallet was moved he would quickly get out his broom and clean up. I can remember his power washing and holding all of his badges and being best buddies with Don in garden. He was such a pleasant man and a wonderful person to work with. My husband and I will really miss him. miss you already Jonathan

Jonathan was a fellow associate and friend at the Raleigh Home Depot. We shared military stories, he being a former Marine and me having 2 sons in the military. Jonathan would always ask about my Marine Son stationed in Japan and how he was doing. He was very interested in his experiences and how things were going even though he never met him. He would always salute me when we passed in the store. He was that type of person and will be missed. God Bless you Jonathan. Joe Biro Raleigh Home Depot

We were fortunate to meet Jonathan and the McGee's when my son joined his son's Cub Scout pack. We shared many fond memories at Pack meetings and several Spring and Fall camping trips. The one camp out that stands out the most was the trip to Washington D.C. When he took us to the Marine Museum. He truly was a very devoted father, husband, and friend. Rest in Heaven, Jonathan.
