Joshua Brooks Obituary
Fuquay-Varina
Joshua Ryan Brooks lost his 13 month battle with brain cancer at the age of 34 on Sunday, May 3, 2015. A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Thomas Funeral Home Chapel, 401 N Ennis Street, Fuquay-Varina, NC. The family will receive friends following the service.
Josh was born August 5, 1980 in Burlington, NC. He was a graduate of Williams High School and also a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill. He was an information technology specialist with McKesson in Durham and most recently was a data base administrator with a company in Cary, NC. When not working, Josh loved writing, Pearl Jam, The Flash, and the Tar Heels.
He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and son-in-law. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Josh is survived by his wife of 8 years, Emily Nicole King; children, Alexander Michael Brooks age 4 and Catherine Lily Brooks age 1 of the home; parents, Thomas M. Brooks of Whitsett, NC and Joyce Abrams Thompson of Burlington, NC; brother, LCDR Bradley Alan Brooks and wife, MaryAnn stationed in Sicily; grandfather, R. B. Brooks of Wilkesboro, NC; many uncles, aunts, and nieces; and a nephew.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke, DUMC Box 3624, Durham, NC 27710 or Transition LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.

I am very sorry to hear of Josh's passing. I used to work with Josh and always enjoyed being around him. What impressed me most about Josh was his strength and the way he didn't let his illness get him down. I know he loved his family deeply. My thoughts and prayers go out to Emily and their two young children. May God bring you comfort.

Joyce, Josh was a handsome, young man which I know you were proud to have as your son. Please know that your friends are keeping you and your family in their prayers asking for peace and comfort to surround you in the coming years. You will always have Josh in your heart. You have been blessed to be grandmother to his two children and blessed again with another granddaughter born to Brad and MaryAnn overseas last Sunday. God works wonders. My thoughts and energy go out to Josh's family. I enjoyed every second I spent in the Brook's household during my youth. A major part of that was Josh. His intelligence was next level and he taught me a lot by just being himself. I am truly saddened and wish the family strength in such an unfortunate situation.

Josh was a special part of our life as Brad's little brother who visited our house often as they were growing up. He was a wonderful friend to our son Lance and are deeply saddened by his passing.
