Judith Isabel Wiggins Root

Judith Isabel Wiggins Root, 68, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2007. Born on March 3, 1932 in Astoria, Queens, NY; she was the daughter of the late Richard A. Wiggins and Charlotte McConkey Wiggins. Mom was an adventuresome woman who had traveled the world at an early age. Born in Queens, NY and raised during WWII, Mom married a military man, Roger A. Root, in 1956 and lived in Italy before returning back to the US a few years later.
Mom spent most of her years in the US in Southern California, then New City, NY and finally Raleigh, NC. Her greatest loves were family, cooking, bridge club and politics. She loved her children and loved her grandchildren tremendously.
Over the last few years, Judy's health conditions became more challenging and she passed very quickly in the late afternoon of January 5th.
Judy is survived by her sister, Mary Jean Guiney; her children; daughter, Susan Root Jordan; her sons, Steven M. Root and Jonathan M. Root. Judy also had four grandchildren, Matthew R. Jordan, Natalie R. Root, Sebastian M. Root and McKenzie W. Root. Her nieces and nephews, Rick Guiney, Tim Guiney, Mary Anne Stephens, Greg Guiney, and Christopher Guiney.
Judy's son-in-law, Richard Jordan, and daughters-in-law, Laura J. Corson Root and Kami Wyatt Root.
Mom, we hope and pray for your eternal peace and happiness, and send all our love.
A funeral mass will be said on 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church - 11401 Leesville Road.
