Dr. Kenneth Stan Friedman, 61, died Thursday, April 10, 2014.
Kenneth was born April 3, 1953 in Rockaway, NYC, NY to the late Arnold and Marilyn Filler Friedman. After graduating High School, he attended Kenyon College for his undergraduate studies. He received his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis, MO and went back home to New York to complete his residency at Long Island Jewish Hospital. While on staff, he was offered the position of Chief Resident, which he declined to move on to a more tropical life in Port St. Lucie, FL, where he established his own practice. After a time in Florida, Ken decided that North Carolina would be the place for him and he relocated here to Clayton in 2001. He created Cardiology Associates of Johnston County, which gave him the opportunity to serve and love thousands of patients throughout the years.
He loved his medical practice as a cardiologist, boating, and making others happy. He had a great sense of humor and was the most caring and giving man he could be making his bedside manner second to none. He will be greatly missed by thousands whose lives he touched.
Surviving are his twin daughters, Amanda and Marissa, and his best friend, Winston the Great Dane.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at McLaurin Funeral Home, 12830 US HWY 70 Business W., Clayton, NC 27520. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave. Raleigh, NC 27613.

I just found out tonight that Dr. Friedman had moved on. I was taken by complete surprise. I was a patient of Dr. Friedman from 2010 until I moved to FL in December of 2013. He was a very caring man, a superb doctor and a beautiful soul. I was experiencing heart palpitations that really scared me, so much so they caused anxiety and panic disorder. He went far beyond in doing everything he could to care for me, comfort me and reassure me. I remember to this day, and repeat it as a personal mantra whenever I have these palpitiations, the words he told me after having my last stress test with him before I moved; he told me that my heart was as strong as the rock of Gibraltar. I missed him when I moved and now that feeling is multiplied. I know a man of his kindness and love was an angel on Earth and now he is a blessing in heaven. Dr. friedman, I'm truly grateful for all you had done for me and continue to do for me. Thank you so very much. I love you and may all who were close to you know the peace and comfort you so eagerly and unselfishly shared with me. Christopher Sanez.

We just found out about Dr. Friedman's passing. We are in shock and extremely sad. My mother in law was a patient of Dr. Friedman and loved him dearly! He was such a kind, caring man. We appreciated Dr. Friedman very much! RIP

It was such a shock to hear the news. He was a great doctor. For eight years I was his patient. I always felt very confident in his care. He was very thorough, focused and had a lot of compassion for his patients. I will miss him greatly. My sympathy and prayers go out to his family and office staff.

This man was not just a great doctor, friend, mentor, student of life, dad, advisor, employer. He was simply the best! To many of us he was the best doctor, to a lucky few of us he was our best friend! He tried every day to do the very best he could for everyone he came in contact with. He was a tireless person, and now he can rest and let God take care of him. But, I know he will still be working hard to take care of all of us from above!

We will miss him greatly! My Mom was patient of Dr. Friedman's for eight years. He took such wonderful care of her and always made her feel so important. Without Dr. Friedman i would not be alive today. He was a wonderful dr and an even better person. When I needed him he was there with the most compassionate care. I trusted him completely and I am grateful that i was able to have him as my dr for over 12 years. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and his staff. You will be greatly missed.

He was one of the best clinical doctors, with the most excellent bedside caring manner. He is a one of a kind. Society lost a great and caring doctor, I lost my best friend in life from childhood to the day he died. He was my brother, always there, and with a sense of humor like no other. He is looking down on us now. Please keep him in your prayers, and share his compassion and caring with others you meet.

This news came as a shock. Doc was a great man as well as an amazing doctor. I worked for him as his nurse for 2 years and I have never seen a doctor with such compassion. My condolences go out to Amanda and Marissa. He will definitely be missed.

I am a retired nurse and was fortunate to have Dr. Friedman as my cardiologist. He loved helping people and it was very evident in his bedside manner and his love for people was in that radiant smile of his. I will miss him very much and I know I will never find another cardiologist with his genuine compassion. I am thankful for his care and may I extend my sincere condolence to his family. RIP Dr. Friedman, I will never forget you.

So sorry to hear of your loss and I know his nurses and coworkers will miss him also. My mother in law love this man so much, whatever he said she would do, she is in heaven now also. My brother also was his patient, he is so sorry for your loss. I had been with my family there a lot, what can you say about a man that made his patients and their family's feel so comfortable. He would even take time to talk to you on the phone if you were worry about someone in your family, his patient. He will be miss by his family so much and also his patients. Will be missed so much.

Dr. Friedman was not only my mother's Dr.;he was her friend. He always made her feel as though she was his only patient and her health was his only concern. Not only did she love him, we, her children did, also. Words cannot express how heavy our hearts are and how much we will miss Dr. Friedman. We also came to love Winston, as we saw him each visit my mother had with Dr. Friedman in his Clayton office. I know he is a sad dog today and we hurt for him, too.
