Lee Daughtry Peak passed away peacefully at home on May 19, 2014.

A native of Sampson County, she was born and spent her early years in the rural area of Hobbton and then moved to Clinton as an adult. She attended Peace College and North Carolina Woman's College (now UNC – Greensboro) graduating with an accounting degree. Lee made a life-long career working for the family business, N. L. Daughtry Fertilizer Company.

Lee was an incredibly energetic sole who lived a full and purposeful life. She loved to travel, entertain, and most of all, spend time with her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Lee will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Catholeen Thornton Daughtry and Namon Lutrell Daughtry and one sister, Edna Doris Daughtry Gore.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Latham Conrad Peak (Bill); three children, John Johnson Bethune and his wife Kathryn of Wilson, Jan Bethune Tart and her husband Whitfield of Clinton, and Beth Bethune Catlette and her husband Frank of Clayton; two grandchildren, Kathryn Bethune Simmons and her husband Christopher of Charleston, SC and Elizabeth Ann Bethune of Raleigh; three step-children, Bobby Peak and his wife Jane of China Grove, Jimmy Peak and Kitty Peak of Wilmington; five step-grandchildren, Ben Harrow and his wife Gina of North Bethesda, MD, Jake Harrow of Charlotte, Latham, William and Suzi Peak of Wilmington, and one step-great-grandchild, Peyton Harrow; two siblings, Annell Daughtry Starling and her husband Donald of Clinton and N. Leo Daughtry and his wife Helen of Smithfield.

In the past two years Lee was blessed with three wonderful caregivers. These ladies are Cynthia Smith, Rosetta Draughon, and Naomi Herring. Lee loved them dearly and they became part of her extended family.

The family will receive friends in the home at 102 Cedar Lane from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday May 21. A private burial service will be conducted at the Clinton Cemetery on the morning of Thursday May 22 which will be followed by an 11 a.m. memorial service at Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Jim Moran officiating.
