Raleigh, North Carolina - Lelia Elizabeth Nellums of Raleigh, NC was called to heaven on February 2, 2024 after her courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 71. Lelia Davis was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on October 8, 1952. Lelia was so many things to so many people in her life. She was an incredible grandmother, mother, friend, and wife. She was a Christian and loved the Lord. She was a strong woman who was funny, a great listener, care giver, and a fierce protector of those she loved. She was a voracious reader and an avid animal lover. She belonged to Apex First Baptist Church. She is survived by her children, Stephen Nellums and his wife Patricia of Bennett NC and daughter Joannie Nellums Philippart and her husband James of Cary NC, grandchildren Xavier Nellums and his wife Lila, Aiden Philippart, Kaleb and Teighan Nellums; and her only great grandchild Georgia Nellums. She also leaves behind Dwight Nellums and several nieces and nephews and a host of close friends. She is preceded in death by both of her parents Eddie and Artie Davis, and her siblings George Davis and Brenda Lee. At our mom's request there will not be a memorial service.

I am do saddened to learn of Lelia's passing. I worked with her at the NC.Vet School. She was always smiling and kind to everyone. She had such a deep compassion for animals. Rest in peace my dear friend.
