Loretta "Lolly" Barefoot Carriker

Murrells Inlet, SC

Loretta "Lolly" Barefoot Carriker of Murrells Inlet, age 78, died on January 23, 2014.

She was born in Waynesville, NC to the late Lexie G. Barefoot and the late Edna Killian Barefoot. She grew up in Asheville, NC and graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill with a B.S. degree in Pharmacy. She returned to Asheville to practice pharmacy with father until her marriage to Don Carriker in 1958. They lived in Greensboro, NC and later moved to Charlotte, NC where they resided until moving to Murrells Inlet in 1972. She worked in several pharmacies in the Myrtle Beach and Surfside Beach area until retiring in 2000. Her retirement years were spent enjoying family, friends and her favorite pastime, travel. She was an active member of the Church of the Resurrection in Surfside Beach.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Donald M. Carriker; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Robin Rose of Cary, NC; a son, Jeff Carriker of Murrells Inlet; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Mandy Carriker of Murrells Inlet; five grandchildren, Christian Rose, John Rose, Matney Carriker, Julia Carriker and Natalie Carriker; and a brother and sister-in-law, John and Martha Barefoot of Chapel Hill, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM February 1, 2014 at the Church of the Resurrection, 8901 U.S. 17 Bypass, Surfside Beach, SC followed by a reception.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions are made to the Church of the Resurrection, PO Box 14548 Surfside Beach, SC.
