Margaret Gretz Obituary

Pharmacist
Margaret H. Gretz, 97, died Feb. 13, 2007, at her residence at Sunrise Assisted Living in Raleigh. Prior to moving to Sunrise, Margaret was a long-time resident of Chapel Hill and Chatham County, NC.
Margaret was born in Germany on Feb. 10, 1910, and came to America in 1938. After her graduation from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1955, she established and managed the pharmacy at Pardee Memorial Hospital in Hendersonville, NC. She was one of the founders of the North Carolina Society of Hospital Pharmacists and became one of its first presidents.
Besides her love for her family and her dedication to her profession, Margaret had many other interests in her life, including gardening, cooking, sewing and bee keeping.
Margaret was married to the late George H. Gretz for 59 years.
She is survived by her three children, Peter Gretz of Asheville, Katharine Handrahan of Washington, DC and Susan Aycock of Raleigh, NC; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
The family thanks the dedicated staff at Sunrise for their care and devotion to Margaret over the past three and one-half years.
A memorial service will be held at Sunrise of Raleigh 4801 Edwards Mill Rd on Saturday February 24 at 1 p.m.
