I remember great times working with Marius in Ocean Springs, MS! He was a true Renaissance man: an expert in physics, math, biology, ecology and fish toxicology! :-)

I was deeply sadden by the news of Marius's death. He was a great scientist who I very much enjoyed working with at the Gulf Marine Laboratory. On a lighter side, on meeting for the first time as a collaborator on an EPA grant, he shook my hand, looked me directly in the eye and said: "Peter, if you do not work on this project and produce papers, I will terminate your collaboration". Although shocked, I laughed it off... Years later (after I had published many papers), I reminded him of our first meeting and how abrupt he was. He responded that it was his Dutch upbringing... Too funny... The World will miss him.
