Meredith Hill Obituary

Meredith Hill
June 12, 1984 - December 13, 2022
New York, New York - Meredith Lee Hill 1984-2022
Meredith Lee Hill, 38, died after a prolonged illness on December, 13, 2022, in New York City. She is survived by her parents, Doug and Jackie Hill of Deep Run, and her brother Dr. Adam Hill, of Bethesda, Maryland. Other surviving family members include her aunts and uncles, Jonas Nathan Hill III of Dover, Dr. Debbie Brandon of Hillsborough, and Teresa and Bob Brandon of Wrightsville Beach, and cousins Michael and Richard Brandon of Hillsborough, Jack Brandon of Wrightsville Beach and Jonas Nathan Hill IV of Greenville. Meredith was preceded in death by her uncle Richard Brandon of Hillsborough, her grandparents Jonas Nathan Hill Jr. and Gatsy Hill of Kinston, and her grandparents Jack and Ruth Brandon of Winston-Salem.
After attending public schools in Lenoir County, Meredith attended the North Carolina School of Science and Math in Durham, NC, for her junior and senior years of high school. After graduating in 2002, she attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill where she majored in Math and graduated with Highest Honors in December, 2006.
During the summer of 2006, Meredith interned in the Retirement division of the consulting firm Towers Watson Worldwide in Arlington, Virginia, returning to work for the company full-time in 2007. In 2013 she applied for a job based in New York City in the newly-created Global Benefits Health and Services division of Willis Towers Watson. She had several roles in this division as it grew from infancy to maturity, ending her career as a Senior Associate, Integrated and Global Solutions. Working with colleagues from all over the globe suited Meredith perfectly, and she valued the friends she made in the US and abroad. Her 15-year career with WTW made her extremely happy and fulfilled.
Meredith was sharp-witted, headstrong, and exceptionally devoted to her friends and family. Her engaging and positive personality led her to many interests and hobbies during her lifetime. An avid horse lover, she said that "riding horses was a lifelong passion." She competed in hunter/jumper competitions on her pony Gray and her horse Joey. She owned kittens, ducks and many feist dogs. She was a writer and a passionate music lover. She considered a career as an architect and spent hours as a child drawing house plans. Always a staunch optimist, Meredith could find the good in any situation or person.
A memorial service will be held in North Carolina in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Meredith's name to the NC School of Science and Math at https://www.ncssm.edu/donate.
