Michael Fahringer Obituary

Michael Edward Fahringer was born on August 12, 1937 in Santa Monica, CA, and earned his private pilot’s license at age 16, even before he had a drivers license. Michael was cleared for take-off and departed peacefully with his family at his side at Durham Regional Hospital, on May 6, 2010.
He since 2003 was a resident of Pinehurst, NC. Prior to that, he was a resident of Ventura County since 1960. Michael and his wife Claudia founded and operated Kopy King, Inc., an office machine, supplies and repair business in the 1970’s in Ventura, CA. Subsequently, he was a founding shareholder of several companies as well as a business consultant.
Throughout his life, Michael maintained his passion for flying, acquiring his Commercial Certificate as well as Instrument and Multi-engine Ratings. He had a gift and passion for contributing to other people’s fun, and giving wonderful advice.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart, Claudia, wife of 51 years; daughter, Teresa Pequignot and husband, Don of Everett, WA; son, Tim Fahringer and wife, Kirsten of Long Beach, CA; and daughter, Juliana West and husband, Matt of Durham, NC; brother, Stephen Fahringer of Las Vegas, NV; and eleven grandchildren.
Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to UNC Public Radio, P.O. Box 8880, Chapel Hill, NC 27515. His family and friends will miss Big Mike.

Claudia & Family,
I just now somehow stumbled across Mike's page and am in shock.
I was fortunate enough to be one of Mike's Copy King Service Managers in the 70's, and I have not worked for a more generous and trustworthy business owner and mentor since.
Your loss is everyone's loss.
Mike was one of a kind.

Claudia and family, our condolences for your loss. Mike was indeed the Copy King! I was a customer of his in the 70's. He gave a good deal and superb service. I would see him driving his old van all over town. The last time we talked he was very excited about a project he was doing with the Vatican! Mike was one of a kind - a great guy!

Dear Julie and family. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. Sandy

My best memory of Mike was when Julie & I were maybe 10 yrs old or younger, Julie called her dad up asking to give us a ride in his plane. Mike dropped whatever he was doing at that moment & took us flying. I remember him flying us over our houses when we lived on the hill above Ventura High School, it was so much fun.
My condolences to all the family.
