Michael Newnam Obituary

Michael Stanford (Stan) Newnam peacefully passed away at home on 3/31/2016 after an eight month struggle with cancer. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 59 years Jean, sons Mickey and Scott, their wives, Martha and Dee, grandchildren Kyle, Andrew, Nick, Zack, Jake, Noelle, Jori, and a step-granddaughter Brittany.
Stan was born in High Point, NC on April 16, 1937. He graduated from High Point Central HS in 1955 and UNC-CH in 1959 with a degree in physics. He was a huge Tar Heels fan. He worked at AT&T his entire career of 32 years. His biggest past time was playing golf with family and friends for over forty years and was a member at Prestonwood CC for 21 years.
The family will receive family and friends on 4/8/2016 from 3:30-6:00 in the Magnolia Room at Prestonwood Country Club, 320 Prestonwood Pkwy Cary, NC 27513. Any further services will be privately held.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to Transition Hospice Care, 250 Hospice Cir, Raleigh, NC 27607.

Jean and family, so sorry to hear of Stan's passing. Since our time at Burlington Engineering I have thought of you often and wondered where you were living. I think I can relate to how you're feeling as I lost my Will last Jan. My prayers are with you.

I will miss my wonderful, kind matching only-child first cousin. We understood the "single" life of growing up, and I treasure the family childhood years all the Newnam cousins had together....
