Mildred Elizabeth McCarter Garrett, 97, died October 10, 2016. She was born June 10, 1919 in Wellford, SC.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James G. "Jack" Garrett and son, Aaron D. Garrett.
She is survived by sons, Jack Allen Garrett and wife, Debra, of Santa Cruz, CA, Kenneth G. Garrett and wife, Peggy, of Sanford, NC, Stanley C. Garrett and wife, Sherry of Raleigh, NC; daughter-in-law, Judy Garrett; 8 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 2:00pm Friday, October 14, 2016 at Springmoor Retirement Community, 1500 Sawmill Road, Raleigh, NC 27615. A graveside service will follow at 3:30pm at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Springmoor or Greystone Baptist Church, 7509 Lead Mine Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615.

I was so sad to hear of Ms. Mildred's passing. She was a precious soul and very dear to me. She lived an amazing, long life and brought peace and joy to many. I pray that the Lord would comfort you during this difficult time. My love and prayers for all of you. Peggy Hoyle

Our family was touched by Mrs. Garrett's life and love for everyone. The memories will be a part of my life forever. The visits and time in the Garrett home are irreplaceable. Each of you are in our prayers and thoughts daily.
I talked with Melinda, Mike, and Jeff to let them know of the death Monday.
