Wake Forest, New York - Mildred (Benzing) Moell, a native of Wapakoneta, Ohio, was the last survivor of 3 children of the late Don and Hazel Benzing.
Mildred was a graduate of Wapakoneta High School. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She loved genealogy, reading, bowling, having lunch with her many friends from the 55+ Club and Lake Lynn Seniors, and walking her beloved Chiweenie, Minnie, in her neighborhood of many treasured friends. In her younger years she was a Girl Scout and 4H member.
On September 20, 1947 she married Robert Moell, also of Wapakoneta, Ohio. With her husband of 69 years, she won many awards at Wright Kite Festivals in Kitty Hawk, NC. She also traveled numerous times with her husband, family and relatives, especially to Disney World, where she spent a spectacular 95th birthday in April 2022.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert, daughter Roberta (Arlen) Meddaugh and sons David Moell and Joseph Moell. She is survived by daughter Nancy (Peter) Duchessi and son Donald (Anne) Moell. She is also survived by grandchildren Eric (Kate) Meddaugh, Kyle (Marnie) Meddaugh, Tara (Mike) Bouteneff, Mike Wiegand, great-grandchildren Fisher Meddaugh, Kaia Meddaugh, Dylan Bouteneff, Luke Bouteneff, Lewis Meddaugh, sisters-in-law Mary (George) Moell, Pat (Tom) Moell, Greta (William) Benzing, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Thursday July 28 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2718 Overbrook Drive, Raleigh, NC. A reception will follow at the adjacent Fallon Center.
