Morgan Rathbone Obituary

Morgan Rathbone
July 24, 1997 - August 18, 2023
Henderson, North Carolina - James "Morgan" Rathbone
Morgan Rathbone, age 26, died Friday, August 18, 2023, from injuries sustained in a car accident, along with other coworkers. Morgan was born July 24, 1997, in Raleigh NC to Malinda Mast Rathbone, Cary, NC and Kip Rathbone, Waynesville, NC. He came into this world with bright, inquisitive eyes that missed nothing, and it is through that lens he lived his life.
Morgan had both "head" and "heart". His engineering brain and love for figuring out how things work was evident very early in life. Give him a good problem to solve whether it be a vacuum cleaner, complex computer/technology problem, or an engine issue no one else seemed to be able to figure out, and he was a happy man.
He was also a keen observer of others and used that knowledge to help others. He was the guy that would quietly fix your problem.
Morgan's calm, intelligent and joyful nature drew people to him. He seemed to make friends everywhere he went. No one was a stranger to him. If you knew Morgan, you knew how good he was to everyone around him.
Morgan truly loved to work! His work life has been technology related and most recently, he happily served with a company that keeps research equipment up and running.
In his growing up years, Morgan sang in the youth choir, was actively involved in youth group, ran sound for church services, was in plays and served as acolyte, served on the Presbytery of New Hope Youth Council, ran track, played basketball and soccer, was on the swim team, started and managed a bike club, served through Appalachia Service Project, and much more. He was an Eagle Scout.
Morgan touched many lives and leaves family and friends to mourn his death and celebrate his life including his:
Mom, Malinda Mast Rathbone, Cary, NC; sister, Bailey Rathbone, Boone NC; dad, Kip Rathbone and wife, Colleen; paternal grandmother, Shelbia Putnam; aunt, Karen Greene and husband, Dallas, Waynesville NC; fiancée, Christina Humphries, and her parents; Chris and Nora Humphries, Henderson NC; cousins; Ginny Mills and husband, John, and daughters; Holly Henry and husband, Curtis, Maggie Amaya, husband, David and daughter, Emi, Winston Salem NC; uncle, Allen Mast and wife, Dana and daughter, Esther, Decatur, GA; aunt, Amy Mast, Decatur GA; uncle, Tim Mast and wife, Christine and their children; Olivia Snyder and husband, Dalton, Atlanta GA, Anabel Mast, Atlanta GA and Audrey Mast, St Andrews, Scotland; cousin, Linda Holshouser, Banner Elk, NC.
Morgan is now solving problems for and playing with many who have gone before including his beloved "gran", maternal grandmother, Laura Holshouser Mast.
Please join us Sunday, September 10, 2023, at 12Noon at Cary Presbyterian Church, 614 Griffis Street, Cary, NC to honor Morgan (service and reception to follow).

What a wonderful tribute to remember all the blessings that Morgan brought to this family. Melinda and Bailey, I would like to share a fine Irish blessing shared in my family that often helps get us through those dark day;
"May God give you" For every storm, a rainbow
For every tear, a smile,
For every care a promise,
And a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends,
A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.
irish prayer
May you continue to always let those memories of Morgan help you through the upcoming days.
