Nadine Fisher Obituary

NADINE FISHER
Nadine Nelson Fisher, 87, of Florence, Alabama, left this earth on December 16, 2009 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven for all eternity. A visitation will be held in Raleigh, NC, at Greystone Baptist Church 10am on Friday, December 18 with a memorial service to follow at 11am with Dr. Dennis Herman presiding. A visitation will also take place at 10am on Monday, December 21st at Spry Serenity Chapel, Florence, Alabama, with funeral services following at 11am and officiated by her nephews, Ted Vafeas and Philip Skipworth. The burial will follow at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Fisher was employed at J.T. Flagg knitting mills, and later was a graduate of Decatur Vocational School, where she received her LPN. She worked in several hospitals in the Quad Cities area, as a floor nurse as well as a private duty nurse. She retired from nursing in 1984, and eventually relocated from Florence, AL, to live with her daughter, Dottie Fisher Mitchell in Raleigh, NC. Ms. Fisher was an avid member of Greystone Baptist Church, in Raleigh, and a member of the Fellowship Sunday School class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Babe Rufus Fisher, her parents, Rufus and Camilla Phillips Nelson, and her brothers, Rufus Frazier “Bill” Nelson, J.R., Alfonse “Bitts” Nelson, and Carl Joe Nelson.
She is survived by her daughter Dorothy Fisher Mitchell and her husband Charles Kenneth “Tank” Mitchell, S.R. of Raleigh, NC. her grandchildren, Dr. Charles Kenneth Mitchell, J.R., and his wife Dawn Louise Mitchell of Pinehurst, NC, and Carmen Mitchell Robinson, and her husband E. Linwood “Woody” Robinson ,III, of Raleigh, NC; and her great-grandchildren Matthew Kenneth Yates, Noah Fisher Robinson, Bailey Alexandra Mitchell, Sophia Nichole Mitchell, Nicholas Walton Robinson, Olivia Grace Mitchell, and Emily Jeannette Robinson: her brother-in-law John Anderson Fisher, J.R., and his wife Gertrude H. Fisher of Florence, AL, sister-in-law Becky M. Nelson of Florence, AL,: her special friend Betty Gill of Florence, AL, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to express there sincere gratitude to the physicians and staff of 6 East medical ward as well as the hospice unit at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC, for the loving, kind, and compassionate care Mrs. Fisher received during her illness.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greystone Baptist Church Building Fund, 7509 Leadmine Road, Raleigh, NC, 27615.

Dottie, Tank, Ken & Carmen - I am sorry to hear about Granny's passing. I have such fond childhood memories of her. I will always remember her kind smile and loving heart. God has another angel in his presence this day.
