Ms. Elliot was my senior English Teacher. I remember I really enjoyed her class and her sense of humor. It is a shame she is not here with us. May she rest in peace.

Nancy is my cousin. We were quite close when we were small and we shared all family holidays. She was a few years older than me and became quite the role model. She was absolute perfection. Her grace, style, and manner were qualities to which one aspires. I am both shocked at the loss and guilt-ridden for failing to keep in touch over the years. To Pat & Chris...I've never met you but my heart goes out to you and your families for this sudden gapping hole in your lives. She will live in our memories as the beautiful and elegant being that she was.

I first remember Nancy when we were about three years old in our Sunday School class at Zion Lutheran Church. She always looked like a little princess in her beautiful dresses and bouncy curls. Her Mother and Father were wonderful parents preparing her for a life of achievment. Although, we were separated as adults, when Nancy came back to our 40th class reunion, it was like she had never left Canton. We had a wonderful visit. Still dressed to perfection, elegant and beautiful. Until we meet again....

I never had the honor of having mrs. elliott as my teacher, but when i first came to broughton 2 years ago, she made sure I had a "buddy" to find all my new classes and her personal mission to make sure that I was happy with all of my classes also. She was definitely one of the positive things that I had during my school day at nbhs. I just visited her a few weeks ago, and I can't believe i'm not going to be able to visit her anymore and have one of our famous "chats". She was always there to say hello to me during the class changes or just anytime in general. Deepest sympathies go out to her family. I thank her for helping me to be a better person and having a more positive outlook on life. She will be GREATLY MISSED.

I went to Lincoln High School with Nancy in Canton, Ohio. She was always a very nice, sweet person and I considered her a friend. As we often do, our lives were seperated by miles. But I thought of her often. I know that you will miss her very much.

Pat, I was a friend of yours at BHS & absolutely ADORED your mother. She was my English teacher and I still remember performing a short "Pride and Prejudice" skit with Chip Bennett. I am shocked to learn of your loss, and had no idea that your father has also passed away. We will be praying for you & your brother and your families as your mourn. Doug's father died in December, and it is so difficult. Your mother was a beautiful, wonderful, intelligent, giving lady who will be greatly missed by so many. SHe has a wonderful legacy in all of you.
With great sympathy,

As a parent at Broughton High School I have had the joy of knowing Nancy throughout the last several years. She was always so pleasant and each and every time I took something to my CAPS Class Teacher, I would always run into Nancy in the halls. She always had something kind to say. From those small conversations we got to know one another and then each time we saw each other we would always admire what the other one was wearing from the jewelry to the shoes! We would just laugh and laugh. It was always a joy to talk to her and to share a smile.

We are thinking of the family and you are in our prayers during this difficult time. Nancy will be dearly missed.

So sad to hear about Nancy. All of us mothers here in the neighborhood, Hedingham, will miss chatting with her at the pool. She loved bringing her grandchildren to the pool. I know this is a great loss for those children.

Mrs. Elliott was by far the best teacher ever! she made english so much fun and interesting and she'll always be standing outside the class with the biggest smile on greeting everyone she knew or didn't know.she'd always get into character with the plays we do; especially with Macbeth she'd always be the witches. she had the most caring heart anyone can have and made you feel like someone cares about you, and tried to help everyone with any problems they had. im so glad i had her as a teacher i'll miss her terribly!!! english 12 isnt the same without her!

Ms. Elliott was a great influence to me throughout my high school career. Though I only took one of her English classes, she served as my mentor throughout my four years at Broughton. On one occasion I was having a particularly bad day at school she called my house later that evening to make sure I was okay. She pushed me to strive for my personal best in my academics and has helped to shape who I have become today. It is largely due in part to Ms. Elliott that, now as a junior undergraduate in college, I am earning my B.A. in English.

An amazing teacher, mentor, friend, and woman. Nancy Elliott was and will always be my favorite teacher. I loved her humor. Whenever I was having a down day, I knew I could walk into her classroom and walk out with a smile on. She had such a genuine personality. I thought of her often this semester in my Intro to Poetry class. A lot of the poets we talked about were poets I learned about in Mrs. Elliott's class. I'm thankful to have had her my senior year. She prepared me so much for college. My grammar skills are better because of that class. I miss all the crossword puzzles, sudoku's, comics, and everything else she allowed us to do in class. I loved drawing her random comics about books or plays that we read in class. Her class was the reason I enjoyed my last year at Broughton. Nancy's family, friends, coworkers, and students will be in my prayers daily. A great person has left us, but I know she's dancing with the angels now. My life has been forever blessed by this teacher. I learned a lot more than grammar and plays in her class... I learned that I can be something... I learned that I am good enough for something. She wanted the best for her students. Nancy Elliott has encouraged me a lot and I will truly miss her.

Mrs. Elliott was my 12th grade English teacher. She was such an amazing teacher and awesome woman. She would make our class laugh and even when we would do or say something stupid she would laugh then get all serious and the entire class would laugh. She made my senior year so memorable and made our class so much better. I am so sad that I didn't have the opportunity to say goodbye to her. I will miss you Mrs. Elliott! You were my favorite teacher!

Dear Patrick and Christopher,
I was stunned and saddened to learn of your mom's passing. How many wonderful years and times with all of you are remembered!! Your mom talked with such joy of you and her grandchildren when we last bumped into each other at Fresh Market many months ago. How I wish I could be with you tomorrow, yet you shall remain in my prayers for your comfort and peace in your loss.
With love,

My son, Nick (now 21), loved having Ms. Elliot as his high school English teacher. She brought out the best in him, with his studies and personally. I remember Nick seeing her in church, at Pullen, last year and rushing over to talk with her after the service.
What a warm and lovely women. May her family be lifted up by her wonderful spirit.

I met Nancy at a Saturday morning meeting that I attend regularly. She had known my son when he was at Broughton. When I had voiced some concerns about him she always asked how things were going. She was one of the kindest people I had ever met. She will be missed by many people who knew her for even a short period of time.

My prayers go out to her family and friends.

My Husband and I were Adult students of hers this semester at Wake Techs Northern campus on the Tuesday night English 111 class. After just two classes, she knew most of our names, and we knew we had a special instructor and that we would learn a lot. In addtion to being intelligent and with a quick smart wit, she was very endearing. The class was stunned to find out from a former student that she had passed away on Monday. We send our sincere condolences out to her family , friends, and students, and all the lives she has so wonderfully touched including ours; if only for two weeks.

Ms. Elliott was my honors English teacher last year for senior English. She loved to crack many jokes, talk about her son, the pro fisherman as well as her grandchildren. She was one the of best English teachers I have ever had. She always wanted us to try our best no matter what. She will be missed by all who's lives she has touched. However, she will never be forgotten. My deepest sympathy goes out her family and friends. She was truly a great teacher.

Ellen Easterly

January 23, 2008

Patrick and Christopher, our families have been friends for 37 years and your mom has been Ms. Elliott, Miss Nancy, Aunt Nancy and just Nancy. Whatever we called her, she was and always will be family. What a life she lead; helping, teaching, leading, learning and giving. She gave her all to whatever she did and her family and friends will forever feel her presence. Three generations of Easterly's adored her and will be better for her love and generosity. We all will. I will remember 4th of July parties at your house, she and I cracking jokes at Thanksgiving dinner and Mom chastising us both to behave, her big siver rings, her laugh, the way she called me "Kiddo", her love for the Capital Room at Belks, long after it's prime. Her absence in our daily lives will long be felt, but Heaven is dancing with the arrival of another angel. Her love for you boys, Rhonda, Cynthia, and the kids will remain boundless. I will miss my friend.

I knew Nancy from a Sat. morning meeting she attended faithfully each week. Nancy brought to that meeting a joy of living and a care for women who were new to the Program of living she practiced. I spoke to Nancy Sat. morning and am shocked to hear of her death. We have only today, and I believe Nancy lived each day well with a goal toward service to others. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you struggle to understand why someone so good was taken away. Nancy will be remembered by our Sat. Morning Women's Group as a women of dignity and honor.

Miss Nancy, as my Meredith and AJ knew her, was a great neighbor, friend, and like a second grandmother. We lived next to her at her current home until we moved four years ago. She loved children and nature. We always enjoyed watching her feed the deer that would come up from the wetlands.
Our prayers and thoughts go out to Patrick, Cynthia, Chris, Rhonda, and the four grandchildren during this heart wrenching time. Just remember she is at home now with our creator and savior free of pain and worries.
