Nancy Frost Rouse
January 25, 1949 – October 3, 2011
Lucama
Nancy Frost Rouse, 62, of Lucama died Monday at Life Care Hospital. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Thursday in Silas Lucas Family Cemetery, Lucama. The Rev. Paul Mitchell and the Rev. Dr. DeWayne Eakes will officiate.
The family will receive friends 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
Nancy went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, October 3. She joined her parents, Faustina Barnes Rouse and Allen Welker Rouse, her grandparents, Jack and Georgie Frost Barnes and Naomi Blanche and John Leslie Rouse, and a niece, Jennifer M. Rouse.
Nancy attended Meredith College and graduated from Atlantic Christian College. She had a lifelong love for poetry, was a poet and founding member of the North Carolina Haiku Society, and won the North Carolina Poetry Society Poet Laureate award. Nancy was a dear and loved sister, a devoted aunt, and was a very kind, caring, and generous person.
She is survived by her sisters, Susan Rouse Wright and husband, Garry, Ruth Rouse, and Jackie R. Thorpe and husband, Erick, all of Lucama and Mary G. Hurt and husband, David, of Alpharetta, Ga.; a brother, William Rouse and wife, Charlotte, of Lucama; nieces and nephews, Lindsey, Garry, and Sidney Wright, Kayley and Jacob Thorpe, Haley and Margaret Hurt, and Allen Rouse and Karen Mills, great-niece, Ella Rose Mills. Nancy is also survived by three very special friends, Katie Barnes, Becky Mitchell, and Debbie El Ramey.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be directed to Nancy's favorite charity, Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or the charity of one's choice.
