Paige Custer Obituary

Paige Fentress Custer

Limerick, PA

Paige Fentress Custer of Limerick, PA and formerly of Roanoke, VA passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, June 4, 2018. Paige was a devoted wife, and wonderful mother and grandmother. Above all, she loved the Lord and shared her faith with countless others during her life.

Paige was born and raised in Fentress, VA. She attended Madison College and met her husband, Jack, shortly after graduating. Paige was an elementary school teacher in Chesapeake and Newport News, VA. After their marriage, in addition to living in Newport News, they lived in Atlanta, Georgia, Roanoke, Virginia and Limerick, Pennsylvania. It never took long for Paige to meet new people as she made wonderful friends and memories from all of the places she called home.

She created a happy and loving home that was always the center of activity for friends young and old. Her children, Scott and Lee, loved growing up in a home full of love and have used her Godly example in their own families.

Paige loved her grandchildren and recently her great-grandchildren. They always loved being around "Grandma Paige" and some of her favorite times were being with them at the beach or family "get togethers" in Roanoke.

Paige is survived by her husband of 64 years and the love of her life, Jack, her two children Scott (Betsy) and Lee Martin (Charlie), four grandchildren, Meredith, Lizzy, Jackson and Mary Paige; and three great-grandchildren: Ella, Carter and Paige. Collectively they were the light of her life. She is also survived by her sister, Bettie Virginia Grissom and brother-in-law, Preston Grissom, and many loving cousins and relatives.

Finally, the most important part of Paige's life was her faith and love in the Lord. She was an example to all who knew her. She lived a Godly life and she walked with Him every day. Even in her final days she constantly reminded those around her of her life's motto - "God is good, all the time - And all the time, God is good"

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, June 11th at the First Baptist Church, Roanoke, Virginia. Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends in the church reception area known as The Crossing. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The First Baptist Church in memory of Paige Fentress Custer.

I'm so sorry for the loss of our dear Paige. She was the very best back door neighbor ever; bringing her delicious fudge cake to greet new neighbors, always smiling, never at a loss for words, and always ready with a comforting bible verse in times of need. It makes me so sad that those days are gone but surely we will meet again in the better place.
Wishing Jack, Scott, Lee and families comfort and love,

Im so sorry to hear about your loss. I send my deepest condolences. May the God who "binds up the brokenhearted" and "comforts all who mourn" strengthen your family during this difficult time (Isaiah 61:1,2)

Jack, Lee, Scott and family,

We were so sorry to hear about Paige. I have fond memories of her visits in Northern Virginia with Jack. She always brought a yummy casserole that Mom, Dad, Norma, Jack, she and I would happily devour around the dinner table. She brought life to any room and was a gracious person to be around. I remember lots of laughing.....about anything and everything. I have no doubt she is up in heaven calling everybody Darling. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all as you celebrate her life.
