Patrick Vines Obituary

Patrick V. Vines, 58, eldest son of Huey and Erna Vines passed away on Father's Day, June 20, 2010 at his home at 5932 Beaver Creek Road, after a valiant struggle with liver cancer. Pat's a well known and well liked 40+ year Veteran of the Fayetteville, NC music scene and a bona fide member of the Woodstock Generation. Pat was a true talent and an absolutely outstanding guitar player. He played with several popular bands including, TLA Okinawa, Dynaflo, and Rockfish and also sat in with Cripple Creek. He played for many years in BJ Thomas' road band. Pat also had a respected career as a construction superintendent on many important commercial building projects throughout eastern NC.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Marhea Vines; his mother, Erna Vines; his brother, Brian Vines; his sister, Monique Vines; his niece, Venessa Bates and her husband, Chris. Other surviving family members include his aunts Mildred Remedies and Velda Sterling; his uncle, Howard Campbell; and his cousins, Richard and Ronnie Emanus.
A special thanks to his sister-in-law, Bobbie Jo Elliott who was an invaluable help in a time of crisis.
There will be no public viewing, visitation or formal funeral ceremony.
A private gathering of family and close friends will be held to celebrate his memory at a time and place yet to be determined.
Our sincerest thanks go out to the angels at Hospice of Wake County (Kat Tucker and Joy Phillips) and to Andy Barham and the considerate and professional staff at Bryan-Lee Funeral Homes who are handling the cremation. Our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation extends to all the true friends and participants involved with the Pat Vines Benefit Fund. Pat is truly our hero and we will miss him dearly.

I remember listening to Pat and the guys play when I lived in Fayettevile in High School and later in the 70's. I remember him as a nice guy and friends with others I know. Saw him with BJ and John Francis years ago out west. Pat will be missed and God Bless and comfort his family..

Had the pleasure to have jammed with Pat on a couple of occasions. Truely an inspiration on guitar. Absolutely loved the blues. Played many rounds of golf with him too. So much fun to be around. RIP Pat.
