Paul Duffy Obituary
A Christian Mass memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday July 29, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic church in Laurinburg, NC. Entombment will be at Hillside Memorial Park.
Mr. Duffy was born in Des Moines, Iowa to the late Brian and Josephine Duffy. He was married to the late Sharon Porter Duffy. Mr. Duffy graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Aerospace Engineering and worked on the Mercury Space Program. He lived in Raleigh for most of his career retiring from the IBM Corporation as Senior Planner. After retiring they moved to Woodlake Country Club in Vass NC where they enjoyed golfing and being able to attend all the activities of the children and grandchildren. He was a former member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Southern Pines.
Mr. Duffy was preceded in death by a brother Eugene Duffy.
He is survived by two sons, Greggory "Gregg" Duffy and wife, Mary of Youngsville, Kevin P. Duffy of Raleigh; two daughters, Lisa D. Blalock and husband, David of Wagram, Dyanne M. Barnes and husband, Matt of Bel Air MD; brothers, Tom Duffy, Mike Duffy, both of Indianapolis, IN, Jim Duffy of Des Moines IA; seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Services have been entrusted to Richard Boles Funeral Service of Laurinburg

When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. I treasure my many memories of Coach Duffy. I could really push his buttons during my teenage years - and he knew JUST what to do! We had a special relationship - he helped me grow as a player & a person. Thanks for all the guideance & laughter Coach.

Travis,Tracee, Lynley and I would like the Duffy family to know how much we enjoyed being with your family at all the soccer activities through the years. Paul was quite a coach and a good friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

my condolences to the duffy family. i worked with paul at ibm and , if there was a class act, it was paul. it didn't matter how tough or stressful things became, paul always had that great irish wit about him and put it all in perspective. i'm sorry for your loss.
