Peggy Beaman Obituary

Peggy Anne Gillikin Beaman
August 10, 1930 - October 30, 2021
Raleigh, North Carolina - Peggy Anne Gillikin Beaman, formerly of Greensboro, NC, was born and raised in historic New Bern, North Carolina, on August 10, 1930 to the late Ernest and Annie Mae Fulcher Gillikin.
Peggy was a "straight "A" student and the head majorette for her high school. She studied piano and won a music scholarship to Woman's College in Greensboro (UNC-G) where she sang Acapella Choir and focused on her gifts of voice and piano. As a guest soloist at church one Sunday she met her future husband, Oliver J. Beaman. Together they raised their 3 children and created a family rich in love in Greensboro, NC.
Affectionately known as "PG", she is survived by her children: Oliver James Beaman, Jr. (Melissa), Raleigh; Ernest Frederick Beaman (Kary), Charlotte; and Margaret Anderson Beaman, Raleigh. Like any grandmother, PG was most proud of her 3 grandchildren, Samuel Bret Beaman, Raleigh, NC; Russell Hand Beaman, Los Angeles, CA; Christopher Frederick Beaman, Charlotte, NC. When she ran out of room taping their pictures on her refrigerator, she expanded her display to her kitchen walls. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces and their families, and her brother-in-law, Bill Edwards of Oak Island, NC, and her cousins Jimmy Willis and Joe Alcoke, all of whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her sisters Helen Adair Gillikin, Sybil Justine Gillikin Koenig Sullivan, Mary Elizabeth Gillikin White, and Ernestine Gillikin Edwards.
The family is profoundly grateful to the compassionate staff at Abbotswood at Stonehenge; her caregivers and companions, Patricia Flores and the fine people of Aware Senior Care; and Transitions Life Care.
A celebration of life service for PG will be held at 11am on Friday November 19th at the Chapel on McDonald Lane of White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh NC at 1704 Oberlin Rd. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to UNC-G Music Department in Greensboro, NC, or to a charity of your choice.
Interment will be held at a private service. Read the full obituary at: https://www.cityofoakscremation.com/obituaries/peggy-anne-gillikin-beaman
