R.D. Jefferson Obituary

R.D. Jefferson passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Thursday, June 29, 2006 at his home. R.D. was born June 29, 1916 to Bob and Emma Jefferson. He served proudly in WWII in U.S. Army in 30th Infantry Division, 113th Field Artillery as a Warrant Officer, Grade 1. R. D. retired after 43 years of service as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, Fountain. He also was a member of Fountain Baptist Church where he served in many capacities.
Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2006 at Fountain Baptist Church, burial will follow in Queen Ann Cemetery.
R.D. is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 63 years, Leslie W. Jefferson of the home; sons, Don Jefferson of Chocowinity, Fred Jefferson of Acworth, GA; grandsons, Neil Jefferson of Benson, Darrell Jefferson, Grimesland,Eric Jefferson of Acworth, GA; granddaughter, Dara Jefferson of Grimesland; great-grandchildren, Tunstall and Tanner; brothers, Graham Jefferson of Greenville, NC, Ray Jefferson of Greensboro.
Family will receive friends at Fountain Baptist Church Sunday from 2-3 P.M. and other times at the home N.C. Hwy 222, Fountain, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Fountain Baptist Church, Fountain, NC.
Arrangements by Carlisle Funeral Home, Tarboro, NC.
