My hearfelt condolence to the Ramesh family. There is another place in the web http://www.rameshrajaram.blogspot.com where everyone has been writing condolences and eulogies and other announcements. If the participants in this blog wouldn’t mind cutting and pasting their condolence message into the other blog, we plan to give it to the family after sometime and keep it open for a long time (as long as blogspot allows). The family is reading that blog (see the eulogies). This is just to make sure that all your heartfelt comments are brought to the family in archival form later. Please see announcement of a Rajaram Ramesh Memorial Concert in Raleigh NC on October 24th organized by SIFAA, for which Ramesh was a founding charter member and President in the past and an active participant. This was the last concert organized by him and I will be running it on his behalf.

I first met Ramesh when I was a young assistant professor at WINLAB, Rutgers University almost 15 years ago. I had the pleasure and honor of meeting him many more times in his role as the Ericsson liaison to WINLAB. I don't think enough words can describe the depth and breadth of Ramesh's knowledge and the ease with which he understood new concepts. In my many conversations with him, I also learned of the many other dimensions in which he was well versed, be it music or sports. He was truly a very special person that will be missed by many . My thoughts and prayers are with his near and dear ones.

I knew Ramesh or PJ as he was better known from our stay in Mandakini. He was intelligent, well-rounded and very competitive. He once confided that his role model was Thomas Edison. From his biography one can see that Edison would have been proud!

Always with a smile and quick wit, Ramesh captured the imagination of many a colleague in Ericsson. It is truly a great loss. Ramesh's ability to present the gist of a situation, be it in Wireless or that of life was always admired by me and am sure by a host of others. He will be terribly missed both professionally and personally by all those who where fortunate enough to be touched by his personality.

Extremely brilliant, very competitive and pretty funny (we used to call him PJ!) - that's the Ramesh I remember from our IITM days. Have fond memories of Ramesh walking around from hostel room to hostel room making small talk and answering with effortless ease the occasional question that we threw at him that stumped some of us (especially during tests and exams).

Ramesh had that extra energy and drive that he kept going for the four years that distinguished him from the other people in our class at IITM. He was a tough competitor to be sure, but his demeanor was always disarming and cheerful. In spite of all the years in between, the memories are fresh and very fond.

This is a terrible shock and a terrible loss for all of us.. I was Ramesh's classmate at IIT. Professors at the EE dept. at IITM still talk of us as Ramesh's batch. He was a super brain - he would go through the toughest Electronics courses like a knife through butter. He was a great all rounder, participated in everything and excelled everywhere, but was still humble. His sense of humour was legendary. God's ways are indeed inscrutable. May his soul rest in peace. I have had the pleasure of seeing Ramesh at several music concerts, where he was the first to arrive and last to leave, and was an untiring organizer/volunteer. He was clearly an accomplished individual who has contributed so much to his community in addition to having excelled at everything and raising a wonderful child. The loss of such a person is deeply mourned. We send our deepest sympathies and prayers to the family so that they can recover from the untimely demise of this loving child of God.

I have known Ramesh only for the past 5 years when I moved with my family to Wake Forest, NC. The first time I attended a carnatic music concert in Raleigh, Ramesh was there making all the arrangements. He was very simple and did all the work that was needed from bringing artistes from airport, hosting them locally, to seeing them off back to their destinations. The visiting artistes had great respect for him as a connoisseur of music. Such a dedicated person, so brilliant was taken away prematurely from our midst by God. Let Him keep him by His side always. My wife joins me in conveying our sympathies to his wife, daughter, and the extended family and our prayers to the almighty to give them the strength to get past this tragedy.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Ramesh. I have known him since he started at Ericsson in 1994 and I will always cherish his ability to teach, help me grow, and help me understand the most difficult aspects of our work while never once being demeaning or condescending – a trait very few people possess. It seemed no matter the subject of conversation, he not only was interested, but had a story or at least some piece of knowledge that enhanced the conversation - bringing joy to those around – in that here was a guy who cared. Caring. Yes, a great man. A tragic loss. I will miss him. My heart goes out to his family – and that family is huge – as he touched so many…
